The Indo-American Club was founded way back in 1952 by late T. J. John to foster links with the West and assist the less fortunate people in and around Chengannur.  Initially all the contacts were in the U.S.A. and slowly it spread out to U.K. too. In the early years the United States Information Service promoted the Club with books, journals, magazines  and even films.  Action in Distress, UK, supported more than 100 children their education and upbringing for several years.  New Eyes for the Needy, New Jersey, supplied freely used spectacles for the vision impaired.  Help the Aged, UK, supported more than 133 grans for over 23 years. Presently the EAST SHEEN CHENGANNUR TRUST, a registered Charity in Bromley, Kent, UK,  is the main supporter of the Club.  Late Mrs. Kay Mattin is the founder of the Trust and her son Mr. Russell Mattin successfully runs the projects now.
